Why Not?

Posted by Adam Junglen

The last few weeks I’ve been pretty sick of being home. Sort of humorous because a few weeks ago I was homesick. I guess that’s what you get when you travel as much as I do.

Anyways, I’m flying out in a few hours to Memphis, Tennessee. I bought the plane tickets less than 12 hours ago, so this is really a spontaneous trip. I’m visiting one of my old friend’s, and am looking forward to a relaxing week. I arrive home on the 1st, and then fly out to Vancouver BC on the 4th.

I think I’m just gonna wing it and not bring anything besides my laptop and other necessary electronics. I’ll just buy clothes for 5 days when I arrive in Memphis.

Sounds fun

Barcelona?

Posted by Adam Junglen

Just 2 days ago I heard about a €2.5k buy-in tournament in Barcelona.

The format is HU (Heads-up), which I’m very excited about. As of right now, I’m pretty sure I’m going. The dates are pretty convenient, I’ll be home from British Columbia on the 14th, then fly out to Barcelona on the 17th or 18th. I just gotta wire some money to Barcelona to ensure I have a seat. I’d normally just bring cash, but this event is capped at 128 players, so I guess I have to pay in advance.

After British Columbia and Barcelona, I’ll be heading back to Turning Stone. They have a decent series of tournaments starting June 10th-17th. I’ll probably only play the $1k and $2.5k events, but we’ll see.

Summary:

Leave for Vancouver, British Columbia on May 4th.
Arrive home on May 14th.
Leave for Barcelona on May 18th (this trip is still pending)
Arrive home on June 1st.
Home for 10 days.
Leave for Turning Stone Casino in Verona NY on June 9th.
Arrive home on June 18th.

I’m really looking forward to playing more live events, despite them not being major $10k’s. Can’t be too picky when you’re 19. I might fly out to Vegas for a little while over the summer and hang out with some friends at the WSOP. We’ll see though.

That’s it for now, thanks for reading.

Poker and Stuff

Posted by Adam Junglen

After going through a 3 week spell of lacking motivation to play online poker, I’ve finally started playing again. On Saturday I played a few MTT’s, and Sunday I played the whole lineup.

I ended up cashing in more than half of the tournaments I played, unfortunately I didn’t earn much better than middle/last place money. I placed 163rd in the FTP 750k for $830ish, 550th or so in the PS Million for around $500, 18th in the $200 HU MTT on PS for $550ish, and 30th in the UB 200k for $1.1k. I ended up profiting a few thousand.

At around 7pm I had a top 50 stack in every tournament. When I realized this, I knew it was going to be a frustrating day. In standard tournament fashion I was knocked out of everything, but I thought I played well. Also, I was very satisfied to see I wasn’t “rusty” at all, after taking a multi-week break.

Well, I believe that’s all I have to say for now.

Takin it Easy

Posted by Adam Junglen

Lately I’ve been mixing it up and taking a short break from poker. I find it difficult to be motivated for the online tournaments when the last 3 months I’ve been playing the big live 10k’s.

Occasionally I’ll play the high stakes ($100 – $1k) HU SNG’s, and have had some decent success. It’s difficult to have a big edge HU, but it’s helped me a lot as a player. I recently completed my HU SNG database, and I consider myself fortunate that the thing I do when I’m “bored” earns me over $100/hr. That excludes the HU MTT I won for 13.8k a few weeks back too.

Besides HU SNG’s, I’ve been playing video games, and reviewing a player’s HH’s for side income.

I’ve decided I’m going to the Johnny Chan Poker Classic in May. I’ve heard great things about British Columbia, and know several other friends going. Should be a good time.

Fox Sports Net started airing the Aussie Millions 2007. The first episode was last Saturday, but neither Jimmy or I appeared. It looks as though the bubble is breaking in the next episode, so I’m near positive it’ll be my TV debut. Jimmy should be on as well. It won’t be that big of a deal, but I’m looking forward to watching it.

I guess that’s all for now. Sorry for the lack of exciting news.

Helicopter Ride

Posted by Adam Junglen

I took a few pictures during my trip to Monte Carlo. I won’t post many here, but below you’ll find a video of the helicopter ride I took from Nice Airport to Monte Carlo. Enjoy!

Monte Carlo was easily the nicest place I’ve ever been to, and am looking forward to going again.

Quick Update

Posted by Adam Junglen

Sorry I haven’t posted part 3 of the trip report yet (I honestly haven’t started on it yet). I’ve been busy traveling back to the states.

Just thought I’d make a quick post, letting everyone know I’m back home in Ohio. I decided to skip the Irish Poker Open, and am just glad to be home for now.

I have some rough decisions to make in the upcoming weeks. There are 3 options for me in May, as far as poker tournaments.

First, there’s WPT Paris. Last year it only attracted 232 players. There are two $10k events in the US in May, which definitely is a cause for the weak attendance in Paris. I still think the field will grow from last years, and first place should be just over $1mil USD.

At the same time, I’m currently very turned off at the idea of traveling to France. My most recent traveling experience has left a bad taste in my mouth.

One of the other options is in Canada. The River Rock Casino is hosting a tournament series called the Johnny Chan Poker Classic. The series looks intriguing. I’ve never played a live NLH 6m or PLH tournament, so that’d be pretty neat. Unfortunately, the series is in Canadian dollars, so the tournaments are smaller than they appear. I’m also unsure if anybody I know is going.

Finally, there’s yet, another tournament series at Turing Stone. Whenever I goto TS, it really isn’t for the poker action. I consider TS trips more of a vacation, and it sounds like a lot of my friends are going this time around. The events are small, but it’s always a good time.

Anyways, that’s what’s on my plate for the upcoming weeks. I’ll also finish up the EPT Monte Carlo trip report as soon as I can.
