Sometimes Life’s Okay

Posted by Adam Junglen

I’m back home at my apartment in Cuyahoga Falls and life is good.

Caesar’s Day 3 went about as well as I could’ve asked (until, you know…I lost a 9m chip coinflip at the FT). Starting the day with 20bbs, as my friend Michael Watson said “you could chug 6 beers and play perfectly,” and although I didn’t chug 6 beers, I found many perfect spots to take advantage of my opponents mistakes.

The entire tournament didn’t feel like a “real” $10k to me. Because of the turbo-ish structure (and I’m not bitching for what I signed up for, unlike one Allen Kessler), it felt more like a big super satellite or something. When we got to the final table I was like…oh…wait,..that’s right! First is a million, lol. I’m sure it had something to do with it only being a 3 day event as well.

Anyways, I started the final table with 2.7m and literally the worst seat at the table. Aguiar, Khan, and Schreiber all having direct position on me (as well as more chips). However with the blinds being 40k/80k/10k to 60k/120k/10k (90min levels at FT), it was anyone’s game and I’m quite confident in my ability to play these stacks. I doubled early with AK > Schreiber’s K4s AIPF at 60k/120k and was back in the hunt with around 4.5m.

From there I maintained a stack between 4m to 5.5m until I lost a massive 3 way AIPF with AKs < TT (and A9o). 7 handed, 80k/160k/20k John Hennigan open shoved the HJ for around 1.8m (A9o), Michael Kamram reshoved from the button for 3.2m (TT) and I picked up AKs in the SB sitting on 4.4m. I decided not to high-five the dealer before calling, and once again lost the crucial pot at another final table. I busted shortly after, taking 6th for $147.8k.

*shrug*

I’m playing to win and am very satisfied with how I’ve been playing lately. I guess it’s pretty cool to bring home a six figure score/$10k FT two weeks after turning 21. I’m not 100% positive if I’ll be going to Foxwoods….but ehh, I really enjoy live tournaments and it’s a 2hr flight away. I just need a couple days back home to relax before packing up again.

I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to say it before (I am now), but I was picked up by Full Tilt Poker on day 1 of the Caesar’s event. Deals are hard to come by these days and I feel very fortunate to have some great people working for me.

…..and you all wondered why I was so antsy to turn 21 :P

Quickie from Caesar’s

Posted by Adam Junglen

As usual I’m incredibly braindead from a long day of playing poker, but feel somewhat obligated to give some sort of update.

After two straight 13 hour days I find myself with 1.27mil with 19 remaining in the Caesar’s Palace Classic ($10k). 27 paid out, and when I return to day 3 blinds will be 30k/60k/5k. Cardplayer is the only site I know of that’s doing updates, so you can check out reports/live updates there.

Sure would be a nice time to run good.

Back from LA

Posted by Adam Junglen

Just got back to Vegas after spending a relaxing weekend in California. I have a couple of friends in LA I figured I’d visit while I’m out here on the west coast. It felt strange getting into a cab from the airport, going straight back to Bellagio and using the same key to get back into the same room I was staying in…., as if it’s my new home or something.

Tomorrow’s the Caesar’s Palace Classic, a $10k event with a turbo-ish structure. I’m not sure if a media outlet is covering it (aside from end of day chip counts), but Caesar’s guarantee’s $1million to 1st place and it’s within walking distance….so I’m pretty sure I’m going to be playing it.

All of this traveling is starting to tire me and I kinda miss the familiarity and comfort of my apartment. Now that I’m 21, it might be time to really start looking at places on the west coast.

Blah

Today was day 2 of the Festa Main Event here at Bellagio. I had 235k going into the last level of the day…..and I’m out. I’m way too tired and completely brain dead to give a full report, but aside from a few marginal mistakes, I thought I played well.

I ended up getting into an unavoidable coinflip vs Justin Bonomo. I’m pretty sure the WPT crew actually reported the hand correctly, but here it is if you missed the it (worldpokertour.com btw for WPTs).

1k/2k/300: I opened to 5.2k from the CO, Justin makes it 16.5k from the button. I 4-bet to 60,200 and Justin shoves for 107k more. I call. AK loses to QQ, and the pot for the CL gets shipped to Justin. Given table dynamic’s, there’s no way I’m not getting it AIPF in a spot like this. My 4-bet was a little bit too big, probably should’ve made it like 46k-52k, but either way I’m not folding to his shove.

Sigh,

Vegas Update

Posted by Adam Junglen

I just finished playing Day 1A of the WPT Festa Al Lago $15k. The field was pretty tough, and I had a crappy seat/table draw with Isaac Haxton directly on my left. Similar to my starting day during the WSOPE ME only 1 player busted during the five 90min levels of play, so there weren’t that many chips on the table. I’ll also admit I don’t think I played as well as I’m capable of, but I’m content to go into day 2 with 52k and 400/800/100 blinds (starting stacks were 45k).

I’m having a great time out here. Feels great to finally be legal in the US….it’s been a long time coming.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes,

I think I’ll have more fun this time

Posted by Adam Junglen

Packed everything back up and caught a flight to Vegas this afternoon. If I were home right now I’d officially be 21, but I’m on west coast time, so I’ve still gotta wait an hour before I can buy-in to tomorrow’s $5k (and do 21 shots).

I’ve got lots of tournaments, some meetings, VT work, and a whole lot more to do while I’m on the west coast. This should be a great trip.

Cheers,

-Adam
