Let’s Go Already

Posted by Adam Junglen

It’s been awhile since my last post. Nothing paragraph-worthy took place (or maybe I’m just in a lazy mood), but here are the highlights:

- I forgot how much I hate the snow. I definitely suffer from seasonal affective disorder. I noticed one day my mood significantly improved when I walked outside and instead of snow falling from the ground, there was freezing rain! *fistpump*

- I did a TV interview for Joe Average Poker on Sportstime Ohio. I did the interview last Tuesday, and it’s been re-running all week at various times. The show is geared towards novices (hence the name), but the hosts were all real cool people who knew their stuff. Check it out if you’re in the area.

- I had to buy the new Macbook Pro. My old MBP (1.5yrs old) is still a top of the line machine (4gb ram…same as my new one), but the new one is oh so shiny.

- Departing Cleveland/arriving in Vegas on Saturday for the Five Diamond Series. I didn’t get a chance to play many prelim’s at Festa since I wasn’t 21 until the last 5k, so I’m looking forward to that.

- As usual I’ve got a ton on my plate aside from poker while in Vegas, including picking out my future high-rise at Panorama, PVT work, media stuff, etc.

- I had a great Thanksgiving with the family. I can’t believe I’m going to get on a plane in a day and when I arrive back it’ll be Christmas.

Cya in Vegas,

Decisions, Decisions

Posted by Adam Junglen

I’ve been enjoying my time off back at my apartment. I might be calling it “my old apartment” soon, as the lease ends at the end of January and I see little reason to stay in Ohio. When I’m in Vegas during the Bellagio series in December I’m going to be checking out high-rises at….you guessed it, Panorama Towers. I figure I’ll be spending enough time in Vegas anyways, I may as well move out here. A place to call home during the WSOP this summer would be great too.

I’m currently doing a “Well” for the PokerRoad forums. Well’s are threads where people ask the original poster anything, so feel free get involved. Here’s a link to the thread.

I guess that’s about it for now,

Snap-Booked

Posted by Adam Junglen

Day 2 of Foxwoods started at noon and I was back in my room frantically trying to find a flight home by 1pm. I wasn’t upset over busting, it’s just there are many, many other places I’d rather be than Foxwoods….Oh, I ran QQ into 66 on the J62 for my 45bb stack during the second orbit of play.

I booked a flight departing PVD at 3:30pm. I packed up and went to get a cab around 1:20pm, expecting about a 10min wait for a cab – whether it be via cab stand, or having valet call me. It turns out they don’t use cab stands at Foxwoods, so I had to ask valet for to call me one. They said it’d be 20-30 minutes, but it’s “usually shorter.” I wound up having to wait anxiously for 40 minutes until my ride finally showed up. I got to the airport at 2:50pm, 10 minutes before check-in closed. When I went to check-in I was informed (in my hectic rush) that I had booked a flight departing the 8th, not the 7th.

Sigh.

Luckily there was another flight heading back to Cleveland at 6pm, so I booked that and then went and waited at the gate. I had two hours to kill before boarding so I played a dozen SNG’s and made a couple thousand. It’s always fun making money while waiting for a flight at the airport.

—————————————————————-

As usual it feels great to be back at my apartment. I don’t think I’m doing any traveling for a couple of weeks, just gonna chill at home and take care of a few things. I’ll be heading back to Vegas near the end of the month/early December for 5D @ Bellagio. Until then I’ll be going on a local poker talk show (Joe Average Poker) and then Bluff is going to be interviewing me for the January issue’s feature.

I can’t believe it’s already November. Seems like yesterday I was waiting around for EPTs/WSOPE and to turn 21.

Day off at Foxwoods

Posted by Adam Junglen

Another Day 1 in the books. My table was somewhat nitty, with (again) only one player busting after five 90min levels. We started with 30k, I’m sitting on a modest 41k going into day 2.

Here’s the biggest pot I played during the day. Opened KcQc from EP to 1.1k at 200/400/50, folds to Joe Sebok who defends the BB. We’re about 35k effective. Flop comes JT9r. Joe checks, I bet 1.6k, he calls. Turns a King putting backdoor spades up. Joe checks, I checked behind. River was the 5s, completing backdoor spades, Joe bet 4k and I called. He showed me AQ and I shrugged.

Yea, 7.5hrs of play and that was the BIGGEST POT I played during the day….and I lost, lol. Oh well, nothing wrong with gliding into Day 2 with slightly below average chips. That’s pretty much how the last couple of day 1′s have gone for me, and I’m fine with it. No need to try to force anything when you have the kind of tables I’ve been drawing on Day 1′s.

Foxwoods

Posted by Adam Junglen

I found out today why everyone seems so depressed when discussing the subject of traveling to Foxwoods. I guess it isn’t THAT bad for me (90min direct flight + 45min cab ride), but it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Apparently it’s also the biggest casino in the world.

Meh, whatever.

I’m playing Day 1A, which starts in just under 12 hours. I guess I should probably get some sleep.
